What’s On?

The Cenerentola

This co-production is a retelling of the traditional Charles Perrault fairy tale, starring the sensational Cecilia Bartoli. Written by Gioachino Rossini when he was just 25 years old, it was first performed in Rome in 1817, and will be running for four performances, until 4th November.

Dates: October 29th, October 31st, November 2nd & November 4th.

Venue: Monte Carlo Opera, Salle Garnier.

Faust – Cine Concert

A chance to see Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau’s 1926 film in concert, accompanied by pianist Jean-François Zygel. Based on Goethe’s original work and strikingly stylised to give the illusion of a painting, it’s been listed as one of the greatest films of all time.

Dates: November 8th.

Adriana Lecouvreur

Adriana Lecouvreur is an opera in four acts by Francesco Cilea, based on the mid 19th century play by Eugène Scribe.

Dates: From November 23rd to November 26th.

Venue: Grimaldi Forum – Princes Room

I Puritani

This dramatic three act opera by Vincenzo Bellini tells the tale of 17th century Plymouth, threatened by a royalist siege. Organised by the Monte Carlo Opera.

Dates: December 3rd to December 6th.

Venue: Auditorium Rainier III

Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra

A co-production to bring in the new year, by the legendary Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra with the Monte Carlo Opera.

Dates: January 12th 2018.

Venue: Grimaldi Forum – Princes Room

The Tales of Hoffman

This sensational French Opera by the great Jacques Offenbach is based on the short stories of E.T.A Hoffman, who features as the main protagonist.

Dates: January 22nd 2018.

Peter Grimes

This three part opera by Benjamin Britten is a true masterpiece – see it in February in a beautiful and intimate setting.

Dates: February 20th to February 28th 2018.

Concert Leo Nucci

See the legendary Italian baritone Leo Nucci in concert in an afternoon dedicated to his marvellous renditions of Verdi’s works.

Faust

A theatrical operatic performance of the 1838 interpretation of Goethe’s novel by Charles Gounod, with the Monte Carlo Opera Choir and Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra.

I Masnadieri

Verdi’s classic three act opera, I Masnadieri will be hosted at the Monte Carlo Opera house in April 2018.

Dates: April 19th 2018.
