Karl Lagerfeld to Redesign Famous Monaco Hotel

The Principality of Monaco is tiny – it’s the world’s second smallest country – yet it probably has more five star hotels per square meter than anywhere else on the globe.

One of its most exclusive hotels is the Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo, located moments from the famous Casino Square and close to some of our Monaco properties in the heart of the Principality. The five star hotel is currently undergoing some renovation work, which includes a redesign by esteemed fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld, who has a long-established relationship with Monaco.

The Chanel creative director is frequently seen in the south of France and spent more than a decade residing in a fabulous villa a stone’s throw from the centre of Monte-Carlo and some of our prime Monaco properties. Now the German designer has found himself back in Monaco, where he is redesigning the exterior areas of the Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo which includes the pool, terrace and gardens.

Key to the overhaul is the creation of a new restaurant for the hotel, which already boasts two excellent dining venues overseen by celebrated chef Joel Robuchon and well worth a visit if you rent an apartment in Monaco. One of the major features of the redevelopment is a stunning fresco-style installation by Lagerfeld which portrays Ulysses’ journey on 15 impressive glass panels.

The Greek mythology theme will also be fully evident in the Metropole ESPA – the hotel’s reputable spa. The spa, due to open to those who rent an apartment in Monaco as well as hotel guests at the beginning of next month, will debut a range of bespoke treatments inspired by the ancient Greeks. New treatments include Eros, an exclusive treatment for couples that includes a steam shower, a chromo-therapy bath and a synchronized massage, and Hercules; a selection of treatments for the Metropole man.
