The Hotel de Paris, which sits in a coveted position in Casino Square close to some of the most prestigious real estate in Monaco, will shut its doors on October 6th for the first stage of an ambitious renovation project.
The hotel will reopen in time for Christmas, but will close again on January 18th for an extended period to allow for more renovation work to be carried out.
The Hotel de Paris is one of Monaco’s oldest and most respected hotels having stood opposite the Casino of Monte Carlo for more than 150 years.
The grandiose building, which is a fine example of the Belle Époque period, will remain largely unchanged from the outside. However, the interior will undergo a transformation, with the restructuring of both the public areas and of service facilities.
The five-star hotel currently has 82 rooms including 37 junior suites, 41 suites and two diamond suites and while the total capacity will remain similar to now, the surface of the rooms will be greater.
The construction of a garden courtyard is also planned, with enhanced use of the roof space including the installation of a new fitness, spa and pool area and a ‘rooftop villa’ with its own private pool and garden.
The hotel’s historic facade opposite the Café de Paris will stay intact, with its lobby and cellar, and iconic spaces such as the American Bar, the Salle Empire, the Louis XV and the Grill, remaining.
The renovation project is expected to be completed in 2018, with a planned reopening in September that year.
