François Pienaar in Monaco

Francois PienaarFrançois Pienaar, the emblematic rugby captain of the historic 1995 World Cup winning Springboks team, who received the trophy from the hands of Nelson Mandela and whose heroic role was played by Matt Damon in Clint Eastwood’s film “Invictus”, will be visiting Monaco on September 5th 2015.

Organised by the AS Monaco Rugby Club, the day will commence by a training session for the members of the Rugby School in the presence of François Pienaar, followed by an exclusive gala dinner at the Fairmont Monte Carlo hotel, situated in the district of Monte Carlo and home to the F1 Monaco Grand Prix’s most famous bend.

The dinner will be prepared by the one and only Philippe Joannes, Fairmont Chief Executive and winner of the prestigious “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” award.

Guests will be able to meet François Pienaar and ask questions at the Q&A session which will follow the meal. With the event arranged on the eve of the 2015 Rugby World Cup, it will surely be a lively debate.

French rugby fans automatically associate “Invictus” with the epic semi-final between South Africa and France in Durban, a nail-biting match played in a mud bath, from which the Springboks emerged with a narrow victory. AS Monaco Rugby has also invited several recognised French rugby internationals from that period, including Aubin Hueber – the Blues’ scrum-half.

Completing the guest list will be former France and Toulouse centre Yannick Jauzion.

The event promises a great line-up of rugby legends in a marvellous setting, including a few special surprises.
