Mention ‘Monaco’ and it’s our guess that most people will conjure up images of The Casino de Monte-Carlo and the stunning Place de Casino. However, there are many other equally magnificent areas and prestigious Monaco streets to discover.
Here are the most famous Monaco streets
It’s fair to say that arguably the most famous area of Monaco is around the Place de Casino, recently part-pedestrianised and home to iconic landmarks such as The Café de Paris, The Hotel de Paris and The Casino de Monte-Carlo.
And due to their very proximity to these Monegasque institutions, the Monaco streets surrounding them are also some of the most renowned in the Principality. Coming under the luxurious title of the ‘Carré d’Or’, streets such as Avenue Princesse Alice, Avenue de la Costa, Avenue de Grande-Bretagne and Avenue de la Madone hold huge kudos and are amongst the most sought-after addresses in the Principality. Here, you will find premier residences such as Les Floralies, Monte Carlo Star, Le Mirabeau and Park Palace, which are home to some of the most desirable apartments in Monaco.
A short walk away (for nothing is too far away in this city state) is another hugely prestigious Monaco street – Avenue Princesse Grace – which borders Larvotto Plage and frequently appears on the list of the most expensive roads in the world. This tree-lined avenue with views over the Mediterranean Sea is home to some of the most coveted real estate for sale; La Reserve Monaco is an excellent example of the quality of accommodation located on this premier Monaco road.
Although slightly further back from the beach, many apartments on Avenue de l’Annonciade also boast incredible sea views thanks to the state-of-the-art Tour Odeon, which was completed a few years ago. The new residence made headlines around the globe due to its penthouse, which is understood to be the most expensive apartment worldwide. The impressive 49-storey building can be seen from almost anywhere in Monaco, and has brought huge prominence to this particular Monaco street.
Another note-worthy road in Monaco city is Quai Albert 1er, which lines Port Hercules and is home to a number of prime residences as well as offices, shops, bars and restaurants. Apartments here overlook the magnificent harbour, where some of the world’s most impressive and luxurious superyachts are moored. Quai Albert 1er is also home to many of Monaco’s most popular events, such as the Monaco Yacht Show and the Grand Prix, as well as the Christmas market and the funfair, meaning there is never a dull moment in this part of town.
Port Hercules is not the only harbour in Monaco, with a second port being located in Fontvieille, the Principality’s newest district which was built out of reclaimed land and completed in the 1970s. This district is hugely popular amongst families, with Avenue des Ligures being particularly noteworthy for its magnificent Terrasses du Port residence.
Our list of prestigious Monaco streets would not be complete without mentioning the Rue des Remparts, a beautiful street which winds around Monaco-Ville, on le Rocher. Here you will find beautiful coloured houses, just metres from the majestic Prince’s Palais, which boast some of the most incredible views over Port Hercules towards Casino Square.
