Christmas in Monaco

Without doubt one of the highlights of the annual calendar in Monaco is the Christmas period, now upon us once again.

For during the month of December, those living in apartments in Monaco will see the Principality burst into colour, with festive lights and decorations adorning every street and square.

Perhaps the focal point of the festivities is the marvellous Marché de Noel, which sets up at this time of year the length and breadth of Quai Albert 1er, close to some of our most exclusive apartments for sale in Monaco.

Here, you will find a wonderful selection of Christmas stalls, chalet style, selling miniature crèche figurines to sophisticated stalls where visitors can indulge in platefuls of oysters washed down with the very best champagne.

The Marché de Noel also boasts a large ice skating rink where families can enjoy a spot of ice-skating before heading off to find some chocolate chaud – or vin chaud for the adults – before returning home to their apartments in Monaco.

And for those boys and girls that have been really good throughout the year, Father Christmas can usually be found in a secluded spot at the Christmas fair, in the heart of Monaco, where he chats with expectant children to check that he has got their Christmas lists correct.

Monaco’s Christmas Market – just one of dozens to be held the length and breadth of the French Riviera – will open its doors on Wednesday, December 5th, and will not close until January 6th.

Other festive events not to missed in December for those looking for apartments in Monaco is the traditional Christmas Carol Service in St Paul’s Anglican Church on the afternoon of December 16th, and a Christmas swim off the beach at Larvotto Plage on Christmas Day for those brave enough.
