This eight-day sale will take place at the hotel, near the Place du Casino, from 21st to 30th January 2015, including a four-day viewing period followed by the auction itself.
The auction concerns more than 3,000 lots ranging from furniture from the restaurant, entrance lobby, bedrooms and garden to crockery and bath linen. Organisers are promoting the auction as a unique opportunity to claim historical items from the famous luxury hotel, one of the finest properties in Monaco, whose doors opened 150 years ago, in 1864.
“Monaco is synonymous with luxury hotels, with history, with prestige, with lifestyle. So many good reasons for enthusiasts from around the world to take part in the Hôtel de Paris sale and acquire a little bit of the Principality’s magic.” says François Tajan, Artcurial’s co-Chairman.
The hotel was founded by François Blanc who, upon the completion of his vision for a luxury hotel, exclaimed that the Hôtel de Paris “is better than anything created before”. To maintain that passion for excellence, the hotel is anticipating an extensive renovation project.
Luca Allegri, General Manager of the Hôtel de Paris, explains “This exclusive sale marks the first stage of our renovation project, involving a huge development programme for the Place du Casino. We have a lasting commitment to the legendary history of the Hôtel de Paris, which is why we would like to share it with our clients through this emotive event.”
Over the years, the Hôtel de Paris has welcomed reputed guests including Hollywood idol Erroll Flynn who celebrated his wedding here among other stars of the big screen. Winston Churchill was also a frequent resident as was fictional icon, James Bond.
Artcurial Auctioneer and Associate Director Stéphane Aubert, is proud to announce Artcurial’s involvement in the project, stating: “Artcurial continues its association with luxury hotels, this time on the Riviera with the sale of furniture from the Hôtel de Paris in Monaco. The choice of SBM reflects Artcurial’s expertise in the organisation and promotion of these auction events.”
Having achieved over 7.3-million euros in 2013 at top establishments including the Trianon Palace, the Hôtel de Crillon and the Plaza Athénée among others, Artcurial has confirmed itself as the leading auction house in France for luxury hotel sales. The Artcurial team will be led by François Tajan and Stéphane Aubert who will conduct the sale in the iconic Empire room.
